Daniela Rondinone.

Consultant at the intersection of textiles, materials science, and regulatory rigor.

Based in Bay Area · Available for engagements

I operate at the precise intersection of design logic, material science, and rigorous quality management. A dynamic push toward higher stakes defines my career trajectory, moving from personal aesthetics into the critical demands of medical device certifications and the innovative frontier of sustainable, biobased materials innovation. I view both textiles and medical devices not merely as products, but as complex, engineered systems that interface directly with the human body. Originally from Argentina, and with significant professional footprints in the United States and the United Kingdom, I bring a global and multidisciplinary perspective to advanced technical challenges.

From Personal Image to Medical Necessity

My foundation is in design and tailoring, but I recognized early on the functional role clothing can play in supporting healthcare. I established an innovative consulting protocol bridging image expertise with medical treatment requirements, working with morbidly obese and bariatric patients at top medical institutions in Buenos Aires, including the British Hospital and Güemes Medical Center. This work proved that functional design could positively impact psychological motivation and clinical outcomes, setting the stage for a deeper, more technical investigation into textiles.

Engineering for Health and Crisis

Driven to master the technical side of the discipline, I pursued a Fulbright Fellowship in the United States, becoming the first fashion designer to receive this Presidential fellowship in Science and Technology. At North Carolina State University, I earned a Master of Science in Textiles with a minor in Textile Engineering, focusing my research on silver-based antimicrobial textiles for infection control. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led a critical initiative analyzing US Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supply chain vulnerabilities, orchestrating a team of engineers to develop risk mitigation strategies that maintained strict quality standards during global disruptions.

Medical Device Certification and Quality Rigor

My technical acumen extends into the advanced medical device sector. As a Quality Manager for Kovac Biomedics, I deployed a cloud-based Quality Management System for Class II cardiac electrophysiology devices, successfully enabling collaboration across teams in the US, UK, and Brazil. Most significantly, I steered this complex organization to secure ISO 13485 certification in just eight months with zero major Non-Conformance Reports, accelerating market readiness for these life-critical medical devices.

Pioneering Material Science and Bio-Innovation

In the UK, I translated this technical rigor into operational and research leadership. At Test Labs, I spearheaded the launch of pioneering material science capabilities, directing multi-disciplinary teams and authoring published research on the compatibility of vaporized hydrogen peroxide for complex medical device decontamination — a critical advancement for infection control and PPE reusable technology. Later, as Business and Operations Manager for the London startup Biophilica, I optimized operations for the development of 100% biobased leather alternatives. My scope encompassed establishing robust Health & Safety protocols, managing key sustainability certifications, and representing the company at international investor and pitch presentations. I engineered the end-to-end customer acquisition pipeline, including the strategic management of partnerships with the European luxury sector and the sourcing of critical materials and machinery.

Advising the Future of Advanced Materials

Now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I advise forward-thinking organizations navigating the complex intersection of advanced textiles, apparel, and medical device innovation. Leveraging my expertise across different continents and industries — from clinical image consulting to medical QA and startup operations — I provide the strategic insights necessary to achieve technical precision and regulatory compliance in advanced material development, next-generation biomaterials, and high-stakes medical device certifications.
